64.8 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 1998 (46.6 in England)

- 72.3 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 2004 (41.5 inEngland)

- 8.2% of live births weighed less than 2,500 grams in 2002 (7.7 percent in England)

- 3.6 infant deaths under one week per 1,000 women in 2002 (5.2 inEngland)

Since figures on the teenage pregnancy strategy were first collected in1998, the conception rate in Blackpool has risen by 11.6 per cent. Therate peaked in 2003 when 81 conceptions were reported per 1,000 girls.In order to reach its 55 per cent reduction target by 2010, it now needsto reduce rates by around 80 per cent.
