The Brushing for Life scheme, which launched last week, will seespecially trained health visitors distribute free packs containingtoothpaste, a toothbrush and an oral hygiene leaflet when children visitcentres and as part of developmental checks. Health authorities canchoose whether to opt into the scheme.
The launch coincided with the start of the Childsmile pilot project inScotland, which will work with families of newborn children at risk oftooth decay.
