Health News: Adolescent health - GP training aims to improveservice

Moves to boost GP training on how to treat adolescents are being stepped up by their Royal College.

Dr Ann McPherson, chair of the Royal College of GPs' adolescenttaskgroup, said the college was pushing for the introduction of eightquality standards into GPs' training curriculum.

She said these would ensure GPs created an appropriate environment foradolescents, would highlight the importance of confidentialitythroughout the surgery, and that they understood how to communicate withthe age group.
