Health News: Adolescent health - Four sites to boost teenagehealthcare

The profile of adolescent health as a distinct area of healthcare will be boosted by the launch of four teenage health sites.

The sites will see health services in Bolton, Hackney, Northumberlandand Portsmouth develop better ways to reach teenagers. They will startin November and run for two years.

Bolton's Parallel Young People's Health Centre will be used as a modelacross the borough. It includes staff training to develop skills to workwith young people, a multi-agency health drop-in session and groupwork.

Patrick Price, lead manager on health improvement at Northumberland CareTrust, said its scheme would help young people in rural areas reachservices. He added: "It will show that giving power to young people hasreduced health inequalities."
