Funded by Liverpool City Council's Neighbourhood Renewal Fund to the tune of 54,000, two purpose-built gyms are part of the council's bid to fight obesity among the young.
Councillor Warren Bradley said: "The gyms are part of our initiative to get kids healthy and off the streets, away from couches and computer terminals, and lower crime rates.
"We want to show them there's something else to do, and encourage gym membership."
