For their weekly 50p subscription, members of the Youth Zone in Sutton's new Phoenix Centre can use the same modern gym used by adults.
Mostly they work out on cardiovascular machines. Some try the cable weights.
They haven't yet tried the free weights, but that will come in good time.
The deal is that on two nights of the week, Youth Zone members will have full access to the 50-piece equipped gym.
A massive boost in Youth Zone membership figures shows how much the facility appeals to young people. "We've gone from fewer than 50 to nearly 400 members in less than six months," says Mark Clark, youth service manager for Sutton, Surrey.
