Liverpool Little Stars, Liverpool City Council

1 min read Early Years
What is it? Children aged five and under in Liverpool are making a song and dance about healthy living with the launch of a free CD and songbook.

The CD has been produced to encourage more fitness-led activities in the home and offers easy to follow sing-a-longs and dance moves.

Why are they doing it? Little Stars is part of Liverpool Council's bid to tackle childhood obesity. Last year the city provided free gym membership for children up to the age of 17 and the Futures programme runs nutrition classes and health clubs in schools. Little Stars is the next step in the healthy living programme. Council leader Warren Bradley thinks the CD makes it easy to be active and have fun. "We are already tackling obesity in the gyms and our schools, and with Little Stars we are now reaching families in their homes," he adds.
