Guidance on young carers for councils

Social Care
Local authorities are to undergo a training programme to help them develop a young carers strategy and improve the service they give to young carers and their families.

The Princess Royal Trust for Carers and The Children's Society are delivering the national programme, which has been funded for three years by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

The guidance will be delivered using key principles of practice written by The Children's Society for the DCSF.

The programme, called The Include Project, was launched at the recent Young Carers Festival, which was attended by junior children's minister Kevin Brennan.
