GreenPrints - Flagships

1 min read
What it is: The GreenPrints scheme aims to get 16- to 25-year-olds involved with improving their local environment. Funding is on offer for "Flagships" - environmental projects led by young people and supported by GreenPrints mentors. Environmental body the SITA Trust and youth volunteering charity v are funding the scheme as part of v's commitment to creating a million young volunteers. GreenPrints is also supported by The Wildlife Trusts, conservation charity BTCV and the BBC's Breathing Spaces campaign.

How much is on offer: Up to £10,000, plus the support of GreenPrints mentors. The programme closes in June 2009.

What it will fund: Funding is available for Flagships that focus on improving public spaces such as parks, beaches or canals and are designed, created and led by young volunteers. Funding can be spent on anything related to improving a green space, including tools, training and transport.

Who can apply: Groups of young people aged 16 to 25 that want to run an environmental project are eligible for GreenPrints funding. There is some flexibility for groups wanting to involve younger or older volunteers, as long as the majority of participants fall into the specified age range.
