Members of the Personal Awards for Achievement junior committee have been given £13,500 by the youth opportunity fund to train to become leaders.
The scheme recognises the positive contribution young people have made to their communities, and takes 40 young local people on an annual residential trip to the Lake District in August. Young people who had been on the trip then set up the junior committee.
The group will gain a variety of nationally recognised qualifications and help to run the awards. They are looking for the next group of award-winners to go on the next trip.
