Grant project for young refugees

1 min read Youth Work
A group of refugees in west London are being given the opportunity to manage and administer a five thousand pound grant for young people.

The Paul Hamlyn Foundation has teamed up with YouthBank to give young people from the Hillingdon Refugee Support Group the chance to run a grantmaking project in their area.

Rob Bell, social justice programme manager at the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, said: "We wanted to give them some power and the resources so they could see what it is like to be grant makers. We have met with them and they now have an understanding of the process.

"With funding from us, they will manage the scheme and young people in the area will apply to them for the grant. They will have to decide whether to ask for written applications or interview the young people who are applying."
