GOVERNMENT: Youth services moved to DfES following Cabinet reshuffle

1 min read

Hodge will have responsibility for Connexions, the Children and Young People's Unit, youth services, children's social services, the Teenage Pregnancy Unit and other areas including the Family Policy Unit and Sure Start. She will oversee the green paper on children at risk, expected in mid-July.

The new ministerial post incorporates the young people's remit that was held by John Denham at the Home Office until his resignation in March.

According to the department, the changes are designed to "co-ordinate the quality of provision and care for children and young people until the age of 16".

Ivan Lewis retains his position as parliamentary under-secretary of state for young people and adult skills.
