Hodge was made the first minister of state for children at the DfES in the ministerial reshuffle (YPN, 18-24 June, p2). Her portfolio includes Connexions, youth services and the Children and Young People's Unit.
A reshuffle of portfolios has resulted in young people and adult skills minister Ivan Lewis taking on the role of parliamentary under secretary of state for skills and vocational education, while Alan Johnson is named minister of state for lifelong learning and higher education. The Teenage Pregnancy Unit, drug, alcohol and sex education now come under the remit of Stephen Twigg, as parliamentary under secretary of state for schools.
