Gloucester bid to aid job prospects

Youth Work
A new service that aims to help find work for young people who are not in education, employment or training has been launched in Gloucestershire.

GC Action works with young people aged 16 and over by helping them improve their CVs as well as giving them guidance on writing to employers.

The service also provides training related to budgeting as well as finding work experience placements for the young people.

Young people are referred to the scheme via Connexions or youth offending teams.

GC Action works with a total of 40 young people at Gloucestershire College's Cheltenham campus as well as a community centre in the town.

Masum Hussain, project manager of GC Action, said: "The young people we work with may have had negative experiences in school or other educational provision - we provide individual learning that is tailored to meet the young person's needs."
