Funding Watch: Sports Participation Fund

1 min read

What is it? Launched by London Mayor Boris Johnson, the Sports Participation Fund aims to provide communities with motivational sports activities in a bid to tackle social issues, crime and educational underachievement. It is hoped that increasing participation in sport will encourage people from all backgrounds to take part in activities that will improve community cohesion.

How much is on offer? A total of £4m; the first round hopes to award up to £2m, spread among 12 projects. Each will receive between £50,000 and £250,000 to help grassroots and community sports clubs continue and extend their work to create a sporting legacy for London.
