What is it? The Cheshire Building Society established the Cheshire Foundation to improve the way it offers financial support to the local community, making it easier for charities to apply for funding. The foundation's board makes decisions on funding applications in January, April, July and October, and board members include building society staff and people from the local community.
How much is on offer? Applications for funding of more than £150 are considered and in 2007 the foundation donated £196,000 to community projects, including the Children's Adventure Farm Trust, Careline, and Cerebral Palsy Sport. The foundation also runs a Community Contribution Award scheme, which allows branch managers to support smaller projects in their local area.
