What is it? Run by Changemakers and social entrepreneur foundation UnLtd, Big Challenge gives young people the opportunity to tackle the big issues faced by society in the UK. It is funded by Vodafone and volunteer charity V.
How much is on offer? A slice of £65,000 is up for grabs for individual young people or groups with an original volunteering project or campaign idea that will make an impact and inspire other young people. Entrants should demonstrate how their project will empower young people to take control of their lives and make positive choices about their future.
What will it fund? Projects should focus on one of the following key themes: drugs, sex and alcohol; gang culture; healthy living; and sustainable living. Past recipients include a team of young volunteers who worked in schools and community centres to combat negative stereotypes by raising awareness of young people's achievements.
