The bureau is to lose core funding of 1.7m a year from the GatsbyCharitable Foundation because of a change in priorities by thefoundation, said NCB chief executive Paul Ennals.
"The Gatsby money has enabled us to carry out a five-year programme ofinfrastructure development and we knew it would come to an endsometime," he said. "They are giving us a further two full years offunding, but spread over the next four years, and we have to start nowto manage an exit process."
He added that NCB would end the year with more staff than its current155, but the new posts were all tied to specific programme funding.
