Goal: To take advice and information to families in four market towns and the surrounding areas
Contact: katherine.osborn@cyp.suffolkcc.gov.uk
Extended schools need to find imaginative ways of reaching out to families in rural areas. One extended schools cluster in Suffolk is using a converted London bus to take information, advice and support to parents.
The need for the Four Towns Community Bus was identified by the local "community cluster", which includes schools and local agencies. The clusters hire out the bus run by a voluntary organisation for one morning a month, taking it to a different town. It carries professionals including the school nurse, health visitors and children's centre staff.
