Foundation stage qualification out

Early Years
The Council for Awards in Childcare and Education (Cache) has launched a new qualification to offer childcare workers training and assessment in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

From September 2008 the foundation stage will come into effect across England and all registered childminders, nurseries, pre-schools, out-of-school clubs and creches will have to show they are using the new framework.

The Cache qualification is a level three certificate in Early Years Foundation Stage practice and will act as evidence that workers have been trained in the foundation stage.

Richard Dorrance, chief executive of Cache, said: "All settings will be regularly inspected against the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements, so the more early years workers who can confidently demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of it the better."

The certificate covers the four basic principles of the foundation stage and candidates will be assessed through observation, discussion and a task exercise.
