The new level two and three qualifications aim to bring training up-to-date to reflect the Early Years Foundation Stage, which will come into force in April 2008.
The Council for Awards in Children’s Care and Education (CACHE) qualifications in childcare and education will cover multi-agency working and working with the birth to 16 age range.
The qualifications will also include optional units covering topics such as international approaches to children’s learning and supporting children with English as an additional language. CACHE centres will begin offering the qualifications from September.
The charity’s chief executive Richard Dorrance said: “Both these qualifications support the aims of the children’s workforce development strategy, as they will ensure workers have the most up-to-date and appropriate skills and knowledge.”
