The Sure Start Roundwood programme in the London Borough of Brent celebrated its first birthday with a party for children and their parents. As well as face painting, children enjoyed a performance from a children's entertainer, and Paul Boateng, the MP for Brent South, also attended the party. Tajinder Nijjar, director of Sure Start Roundwood, said parents in the area had "come to depend on many of the services we offer".
