5 mins read Youth Work
Youth groups can now bid for a share of the 190m to create world-class places for young people to go. Joe Lepper finds out what will make a successful application.

The race has begun to secure a slice of £190m of government funding to transform youth centres across England. The Myplace programme is offering grants of between £1m and £5m for projects that create safe and exciting places for young people.

The fund's distributor, the Big Lottery Fund, is warning that strict criteria are in place to ensure only the best plans succeed.

This ten-point guide steers those considering making a bid through the application process.

Timing

For those with a firm business plan already in place the Big Lottery Fund has a fast-track application process, which closes on 29 July. However, those considering this route need to contact Big Lottery Fund by tomorrow (5 June) via email.
