A DJ studio for young homeless people in Camden and a theatre project in Oxford are among 21 youth projects that will share around sixty million pounds in Myplace funding.

This was the first wave of funding reserved for fast track applicants to the scheme, which is to hand out a total of £190m to transform youth facilities nationwide.

Grants of between £1.2m and £5m were awarded as part of this first wave with successful bids including a £1.5m refurbishment of the New Horizon Youth Centre in Camden.

The centre focuses on young homeless people and the plans include a music, DJ and dance studio as well as a health clinic.

Another successful applicant was the Pegasus Theatre Project in Oxford, which has been handed £1.8m to create an arts facility for young people.
