Faith: Anglican group in gap year initiative

Under the Xplore scheme, 12 young people will attend a 14-week training session at a Church Army centre in Liverpool. Following the training, the young people will spend six months abroad on poverty and outreach projects.

Mark Russell, chief executive of Church Army, said: "The goal is to equip, empower and encourage young people to use their gifts to make a difference in the world. This project is not about proselytizing but about helping young people to work alongside others."

Each young person will be expected to raise about 1,000.
