Fairbridge set to expand in Wales

1 min read Youth Work
Fairbridge Cymru is planning to expand as part of a shake-up of its work in Wales.

The youth charity is planning to appoint a regional director for Wales to direct its work in the country. A spokeswoman for Fairbridge Cymru said the director would assess where the charity's services are most required and work out how best to meet these needs.

At the moment the charity works only in Cardiff and Swansea but it wants to provide support for disadvantaged young people in other parts of Wales. The new regional director will also work with the Welsh Assembly Government on matters affecting disadvantaged teenagers.

The spokeswoman added: "This role is especially vital in light of the Welsh devolution settlement so that the specific needs of young people in Wales can be addressed."

Fairbridge Cymru supports young people aged 13 to 25 who are not in education, employment or training and aims to give them the motivation, confidence and skills needed to change their lives.
