Extra funding for Northern Ireland

Health Social Care
Health and social services in Northern Ireland are to benefit from a funding boost of 300m pounds, despite plans to spend far less.

An extra £155m will go directly to services, including antenatal and mental health provision. Cash has also been pledged to improve children's homes, reduce the number of children in care and recruit more carers.

Girls aged 12 will also be targeted by a new human papilloma virus screening programme under measures to increase early disease detection.

Elaine Conway, policy officer for Children in Northern Ireland, said: "We warmly welcome the announcements, however we haven't heard enough details about how cash will be spent."
