The decision comes after clashes between Catholics and supporters of thenew law. Last week Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, the head of theCatholic Church in England and Wales, warned agencies would be shut downif the law went ahead.
However, a spokesman for Downing Street said this week that there wouldbe no exemption for Catholic agencies although they would have 21 monthsto prepare for the changes.
