Education News: Wales - Assembly stands by drama guidance

The Welsh Assembly Government has stood by controversial guidelines designed to protect children from abuse in school drama lessons.

The government last week issued guidelines for teachers in response tothe 2004 Clywch report into allegations of sexual abuse by a dramateacher at a Welsh secondary school.

National newspapers claimed the guidelines meant children will be bannedfrom kissing in school plays. In response, a government spokesman said:"The draft guidance does not ban kissing, but it does stress that thesafety of children must always take priority."
