The Institute for Research in Integrated Strategies is planning topublish a league table of uniform costs for different schools early nextyear.
Chris Waterman, director of the institute, said that he had beenrecently contacted by one parent who had to spend 150 on auniform before her daughter could start secondary school.
Waterman, who is also director of the education managers' associationConfEd, said he would like to see all schools being made to include intheir brochure a full breakdown of all the costs of attending theschool.
According to the Department for Education and Skills, parents spendnearly 1,000 a year on extras for secondary school pupils.
