Education News: School Transport - Bill 'must protect against extra costs'

Guarantees that pupils with disabilities are not penalised financially because of their additional transport needs must be written into the School Transport Bill, campaigners have warned.

The Government revised the prospectus published alongside the Bill to protect children with special educational needs.

But Amanda Batten, policy and campaigns officer at the National Autistic Society, said: "We want this protection outlined on the face of the Bill itself."

The Bill now moves to the House of Lords after it completed its third reading in the Commons in December.
