Education News: Northern Ireland - Extended schools get 10min funds

Schools in the poorest parts of Northern Ireland have been given the go-ahead to develop extended services.

Some 470 schools will share a 10m pot of funding, it wasannounced last week. The money is part of a 100m funding packageunveiled in March.

Every primary school will also receive 4,500 and secondary willget 24,700, to spend as they see fit.

Northern Ireland's education minister Maria Eagle said: "This fundingfocuses on those schools catering for children from the mostdisadvantaged areas on which extended schools will have the mostimpact."
