Seven out of 10 pupils support the new style of school inspections, a survey has revealed. The Mori poll for Ofsted questioned more than 2,000 11- to 16-year-olds and found three in five pupils support shorter notice inspections.
Meanwhile, an evaluation by the National Foundation for EducationalResearch found half of schools are very satisfied with the shorterinspection regime introduced in 2005 and more than a third (36 per cent)quite satisfied. But schools have concerns about the time taken tocomplete the self-evaluation form.
Miriam Rosen, Ofsted's director of education, said: "The majority ofschools were satisfied with their inspections overall. It is alsopleasing to see that 70 per cent of pupils were in favour ofinspection."
Ofsted has pledged to keep the process of self-evaluation "under closereview".
