Education News: Inclusion - Hodge denies pace of school closures

Children's minister Margaret Hodge has denied that the Government's inclusion policy has increased the rate of closure of special schools.

Hodge said there had been a growth in the non-maintained special school sector. "Closure of special schools has not moved apace under this Government," she added.

But David Cameron MP said educationists and accountants were using the policy to shut special schools. "Those of us who have very disabled children should not have to fight to keep open these wonderful schools that do such a good job," he said.
