Education News: Ethnic Minorities - Camden in search for more governors

A London council has launched a campaign to recruit more school governors from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds.

Only 15 per cent of governors in Camden are from minority ethnic communities, compared to almost 50 per cent of pupils.

The campaign is backed by a video that features interviews with existing governors from Bangladeshi, Somali and other communities, explaining their roles and how their work helps their community.

The council wants to increase the proportion of Black and minority ethnic governors to at least 20 per cent within two years.
