Education News: Bullying - Solicitor tells parents to get involved

1 min read
A leading expert in education law is encouraging parents to challenge schools who are not doing enough to tackle bullying.

Solicitor Michael Charles is touring the country because he believes that too many schools are turning a blind eye to bullying.

Charles, a partner at Sinclairs Solicitors in Cardiff and a member of the Law Society Family Law Panel, has been honoured as a "children's champion" by anti-bullying charity Kidscape. He is currently representing a child who was allegedly forced by bullies to watch the beheading of Iraq hostage Ken Bigley.

Over the coming months he will address parents of bullying victims in Shrewsbury, Oxford, London, Newcastle, Manchester and Bournemouth. The tour is being supported by John Friel, one of the country's leading special educational needs barristers.
