Education News: Bullying - Camden launches innovative attack

Camden council has launched a three-pronged attack to prevent bullying in schools and support young victims.

Last week, a confidential hotline for victims of bullying was opened thanks to 3,500 in funding from Camden Children's Fund and a partnership with Camden Victim Support.

The council also unveiled a bullying prevention strategy and a resource pack for schools.

The strategy gives schools guidance on preventing and tackling bullying and includes examples of good practice within the borough. Adrienne Katz, regional co-ordinator at the Anti-Bullying Alliance, described the resource pack as "a model of clarity".

"Bullying is a serious problem and you can't just expect it to disappear as if by magic," she added.
