NCB Now: Anti-bullying toolkit launched online

1 min read
The Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA), based at NCB, has launched an online toolkit to support local authorities in tackling bullying.

Lauren Seager, regional strategy co-ordinator for ABA, said: "Local authorities have a key role in promoting anti-bullying best practice in schools and the wider community, and this toolkit advises on how this can be done effectively. There is also a section devoted to participation, which explores how children and young people can be involved in the development of anti-bullying policy and strategy, and in the process of monitoring, reviewing and evaluating."

All local authorities need to ensure bullying is addressed in their Children and Young People's Plans and to meet the targets set out in Every Child Matters for the outcome "Stay safe". The toolkit features a "responsibilities table" illustrating the full range of legislation, targets, indicators, national policy and guidance that authorities are under with regard to tackling bullying.
