Black children are doing better at school, but still face inequalities, an evaluation of a Government initiative to raise the achievement of African-Caribbean pupils has found.
A review of the Aiming High programme found that the percentage of BlackCaribbean boys achieving Level 5 and above at the end of Key Stage 3 hadrisen by 12 per cent in English and 13 per cent in maths. The percentageof Black Caribbean boys gaining five or more A* to C grades at GCSEincreased by 5.4 per cent between 2003-05 and by 6.9 per cent for BlackCaribbean girls.
