
So the 21st Century Schools white paper is finally out? Indeed, complete with headline grabbing guarantees for pupils and parents, which the government plans to enshrine in legislation of some sort.
Children and young people can now expect to attend a school where they are taught in a way that meets their needs, where they have the chance to take part in sports and cultural activities, where there is strong discipline and where their views are taken into consideration.
Every child will have a personal tutor, and pupils who fall behind at school will get one-to-one tuition. So far, so unsurprising.
What about parents? Parents are to be presented with a similar list of promises of what the school will do for their child. But they will be expected to do their part.
