Editorial: Children's trusts mean major changes

Last year's sessions very much centred on the concept of children's trusts and how youth services might fit into them in theory. This year there was more to discuss in terms of practical experience, illustrated by case studies from West Sussex, Telford and Wrekin, North Lincolnshire and Essex (see p16).

They accompanied analysis of issues that will affect youth workers and other professionals working with young people within children's trusts, such as common assessment frameworks, information sharing, lead professionals and partnerships.

These concepts may appear impenetrable, but they will soon be crucial elements in the working lives of all youth workers.
