Lowton Girls' Group attempted to tackle the issue in a documentary called Lean on Me. The DVD shows the efforts made by members of the group to build friendships with young people from minority groups. It features interviews with the girls about their experiences of exclusion and footage of a Christmas party organised for young people from other minority groups.
Lowton Girls' Group member Georgina Hall said: "Being excluded can leave you feeling isolated. I was bullied and I felt lonely. We hope to show the DVD to other groups to help young people think about including everyone."
The girls worked with a local filmmaker to produce the DVD, which includes a recording of Bill Withers' song Lean on Me, which is sung by the girls.
