The news follows the launch of a major attempt by the Government toengage the public on how to drive down drug use in the first stage ofoverhauling the nine-year-old drug strategy due to end next March.
The consultation, run by the Home Office, the Department of Children,Schools and Families and the Department of Health, will see workshopsand events aimed at the public, families and current and ex-drug users,plus 20,000 leaflets.
Announcing a further 5.65m for Frank, the drugs education andawareness campaign, home secretary Jacqui Smith said: "I want to sharpenour focus, target the most vulnerable and educate the young."
The consultation points to a drop in drug use among young people butsays the quality of teaching on drugs in schools and provision ofspecialist drug treatment is variable.
