Drugs: London project to target crack users

1 min read

The Lambeth Harbour project in Brixton's Coldharbour Lane was created by the local drug action team, in partnership with drug and HIV organisation Mainliners, the Community Drug Project, and South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.

It is funded with 240,000 from the drug action team pooled treatment budget and the Home Office's Criminal Justice Intervention Programme.

It will offer crack users aged 18 and above access to support, treatment, harm reduction and counselling.

Martin Brown, director of services at the Community Drug Project, said: "Until now there has been no dedicated service for crack users because it is seen as just one of many drugs. However, the cravings are intense and there is no recognised treatment for them."
