The draft standards were developed by the National Association of Family Information Services (NAFIS). They were created as a response to the development of children's information services, which tell parents about childcare, into family information services, which advise on a wider range of services, such as extended schools.
James North, manager of the Quality Assurance Development Project at NAFIS, said he hoped to have the quality standards agreed by the end of October.
The quality framework will cover areas such as helping parents access financial support and providing inclusive and accessible services.
North said NAFIS will also unveil an evidence-based quality standards award next year, which will challenge information services to improve working methods in a variety of areas.
