Domestic violence training in schools

Education
Teachers and parents in Islington are to receive training on preventing domestic violence and other child protection issues.

The London borough's training programme aims to forge closer connections between parents and teachers and offer advice on dealing with domestic violence. The course is provided free and will be run in both primary and secondary schools. The council is also helping teachers run domestic violence prevention lessons for pupils.

The council's domestic violence prevention officer Heather Vaccianna said: "It is important to have a holistic approach and reach the whole community. By holding sessions in schools we can work with both staff and parents."
