DISABILITY: Mencap pack helps complaints process

1 min read

The free Listen Up pack is backed by the Community Fund, and includes posters, complaints cards and a board game. Designed for six- to 19-year-olds, it is supported by a training video and a CD-Rom of resources for professionals, such as youth workers and teachers, and for parents.

Jo Williams, chief executive of Mencap, said complaints procedures were rarely accessible by disabled young people. "Children with severe learning disabilities pick up from parents and professionals the scarcity of resources and the lack of choice, and they do not want to risk services being taken away from them," said Williams.

The pack will ensure that disabled young people's views are valued and that they get the services that they want and need, she added.
