Two years ago, I started volunteering with the Southend SOS Bus, supporting people who have injuries and helping those who have had a lot to drink or are stranded in the town centre. It's completely different to anything I've done before and it means a lot that people come back to say thank you.
What I love about volunteering is the warm feeling of knowing I have done something good to help people. I don't think of it as work - more as a hobby.
My volunteering was recognised this summer when I was chosen as a role model for Dare 2 Dream, an initiative of Southend Children's Partnership aiming to raise aspirations by profiling young people whose stories can inspire others.
