Barnardo’s and Rotherham MP Sarah Champion are to conduct a parliamentary inquiry into child sexual exploitation and trafficking within the UK. The inquiry will collect evidence from victims and professionals involved with protecting vulnerable children including the police and members of the legal profession, ITV News reports. The number of sexually exploited children known to Barnardo's rose by 22 per cent to 1,452 in the UK last year and 37 per cent during the past three years. The first of the four evidence sessions will be held on 17 December.
Changes to funding for nurseries, youth offending services and children in care placements are being consulted on by Stoke-on-Trent City Council. The council proposes to cut £20m from its budget across a range of services, with the delivery of some changing and others being reduced or lost next year. The consultation, launched today, closes on 20 December.
