
The number of girls self-harming has risen dramatically in the past 10 years, according to NHS figures. The Guardian reports that the number of girls under 18 who have needed hospital treatment after poisoning themselves has gone up from 9,741 in 2005/6 to 13,853 in 2014/15, a rise of 42 per cent.
Children's centre cuts in Worcestershire are to go ahead despite local campaigners putting pressure on the council to reverse them. The Worcester News reports that 18 sites face reductions in their services as part of the £3m cuts.

Hundreds of taxi drivers in Leicester are yet to complete a training course on spotting the signs of child sexual exploitation - nearly a year after it was made mandatory. The Leicester Mercury reports that 1,164 cabbies have completed the training but 800 have yet to attend the course.?
A child abuse lawyer is still being paid £1,700 a day even though he has officially quit and does not go to the office. The Express reports Ben Emmerson QC quit the child abuse inquiry one day after he was suspended following concerns about his leadership. The lawyer will continue to be attached to the inquiry until the end of November - two months after he officially quit.?
